As a teenager, Margaret Mary Alacoque experienced visions of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, but assumed that this was normal for everyone. After becoming a Visitation nun in 1671, the visions continued, and Christ asked her to promote devotion to His Sacred Heart. He asked for people to receive Holy Communion on First Fridays, make holy hours of Eucharistic adoration, and celebrate the feast of the Sacred Heart.
