In Models of Revelation Avery Dulles explores the doctrine at the very center of Christianity: that Christianity is based on the world of God as given to the church. Following the format of his earlier classic, Models of the Church, Dulles derives five models of character of this much-neglected theme of revelation: revelation as doctrine, as history, as inner experience, as dialectical presence, and as new awareness.
Avery Cardinal Dulles, S.J. (1918-2008) was a distinguished scholar in residence at Fordham University, former president of the Catholic Theological Society of America, and the author of many books. He was elevated to the College of Cardinals in 2001 by Pope Saint John Paul II.
