On 20 May 2023, Garratt Publishing, together with SA Catholics for an Evolving Church (SACEC), Australasian Catholic Coalition For Church Reform (ACCCR), and Yarra Theological Union hosted the webinar, Walking Together Towards a Synodal Conversion presented by Rafael Luciani.
We are experiencing a crisis in the transmission of the faith, a crisis caused by the continued existence of a clerical institutional model.
Pope Francis says synodality is the new model of Church. A model where bishops listen to the People of God as members of the People of God. A Church for the third millennium must recognise the need for reform of the outdated dominant theological-cultural model.
The transition towards a new model for the third millennium needs to recognise, first, we are facing a systemic and structural problem that reveals the weakness of the dominant theological-cultural model which has become outdated and needs not only renewal but reform.
