Two disciples are en route to Emmaus. Although Jesus joins them on their walk, they do not recognize him. These disciples think Jesus is a stranger until they recognize him in the breaking of the bread. In this illumination, Donald Jackson suggests female presence with the use of pastels. The hint of a meal, echoes of the Last Supper as well as this bread breaking, suggest a journey from darkness to light.
